Horst Galleries is pleased to announce the opening of its exhibition, The Feeding of the Spirit, by national artist Joe Geshick at its recently-opened Northeast Minneapolis location. Influenced by Ojibway culture, Mr. Geshick’s paintings have been recognized by collectors internationally. His clear, integral designs and richly textured layers of earth tones express a sense of calmness and simplicity, illustrative of fundamental strength and deep spiritual connection with the natural world. The gallery is located in the thriving NE Minneapolis arts scene. The Gallery space complements the many talented artists and existing galleries that have brought about an art renaissance in the neighborhood. Horst Galleries’ intent is to act as a support system for arts promotion and education.

Joe Geshick is an Ojibway artist whose paintings of traditional Indian ceremonies represent a kind of personal thanksgiving. A St. Paul resident for 16 years, Geshick now lives and paints in Ely, MN. He has received numerous art awards, including from the Minneapolis Art Expo, and the Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis.
Geshick’s work is also featured on five Louise Erdrich novel covers, including “The Antelope Wife.”

The opening will include native Ojibway singing and drumming.

The exhibition will be on display and open to the public until January 10, 2003.
